This is a list of thoughts I've had recently. Some of them are long, some aren't.
It took a while, but I've made two big service switches:
- Phone service: I'm moving from klarmobil to Ja! Mobil.
- I'm doing this because we get no signal at home with Telefonica's network. Klarmobil was and is a great, reliable provider. They also have a Telekom network plan, but that's a 24 month contract, and as I've learned, anything can happen.
- Checking account/Girokonto: I'm moving from Berliner Sparkasse to 1822MOBILE
- I'm doing this because Berliner Sparkasse has been nickel and diming me, including charging thirty cents for each time I pay for anything. That disincentivizes usage, which defeats the purpose of a checking account.
I'm waiting anxiously for these changes to take effect.

Holy smokes am I tired.
Yesterday was action-packed, and it's the third day in a row that I'm running on six hours.
Today's mission:
- Once I'm done coding whatever I need to for today, rest a bit on the couch then head home
- Buy some Anti-Stress tea from DM
- Walk home and drink said tea
- Survive dinner and family time and then go straight to bed
Alright, we've got some dynamic content creation happening on this website!
It is my hope that I'm going to be more likely to create content for this site now. This of course requires that I'm on my computer to do things, but I never liked writing from my phone anyway.
20241120-131524My two-year-old hasn't spoken at all at school after three months at Kita.
But for the first time ever, she sang, apparently while a lot of her classmates were napping and with the few other kids who didn't want to nap.
Twinkle, twinkle, little star in English.
20241114-150627I'm fully aware that most decisions are made from an emotional perspective from our reptilian brain and then rationalized with our neocortex.
That's why I feel more than a bit of disappointment with my obsession of the Gigabyte Brix line of mini PCs.
I first bought one in Japan for $45 to use as a streaming box (and no, I'm not gonna tell you what I stream on it, nosypants).
It's honestly my favorite computer I've ever owned, for many reasons:
- Extremely, extremely good looking
- Extremely power efficient
- Heavy enough to take seriously (sorry, Raspberry Pi)
As a result, I'm very strongly considering selling a bunch of my older tech and then picking up a Ryzen-compatible Gigabyte Brix and tossing in an SSD and HDD. Then I'd be able to use that as my home main and it'd also be my home computer.
Do I need a home computer? No. I don't even have an obvious place to put one. But I want one. Thanks, reptilian brain!
20241113-110100I've been informed that I'm deficient in a few different vitamins and minerals:
- Vitamin D3
- Selenium
- Boron
I started taking a multivitamin a few weeks ago and the extreme sluggishness I felt at the time seems to have dissipated. I'm hoping that by addressing these remaining shortcomings that my energy levels will come back.
